What maXfolders (Pro and the App Store edition) sends

Neither edition of the app phones home in the background, runs analytics, or embeds ads. The app generates one random identifier per install, stored locally on your Mac (not derived from any hardware serial number), and only sends network requests to maxfolders.com in these specific cases:

• Like

  If you tap Like in the app, it sends that per-install identifier and, if you supply one, your email address — used only to count likes and to recognize repeat submissions from the same install.

• Feedback

  If you submit a bug report or feature request from the app, it sends the per-install identifier, the email address you enter, and the title/description you write. Your IP address is recorded automatically by the server that receives the request, as it would be by any web request.

• Update check (maXfolders Pro only)

  The direct-download Pro edition periodically checks maxfolders.com for the current version number, sending the same per-install identifier. The Mac App Store edition does not do this — Apple's own update mechanism handles it instead.

Beyond that, the app's only other network activity is whatever you explicitly configure yourself — an FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, S3, or Dropbox connection you set up, or Git operations against a repository you open. maXfolders never uploads, scans, or transmits the contents of your files anywhere on its own; file access is governed entirely by macOS itself (App Sandbox for the Mac App Store edition, Full Disk Access you grant explicitly for the direct-download Pro edition).

What maxfolders.com collects

• Downloading maXfolders Pro

  The download form collects your email address, plus your IP address, approximate region, and browser user agent, recorded automatically with the request. This is used to gate the direct download, to enforce a daily download limit per email/IP, and to track eligibility for the Founding Member beta discount described on the Beta Offer page. The Mac App Store edition is downloaded through Apple, not this form, so none of this applies to it.

• A maXfolders Pro account and purchase

  Signing in to buy Pro creates an account keyed by your email address, with the timestamps of when it was created and when you last signed in. A completed order records the product, the price charged, the currency, and which payment provider you used (PayPal or Apple Pay) along with that provider's own transaction ID — maxfolders.com never sees or stores your full card number; that's handled entirely by PayPal or Apple.

• Feedback submitted from this site

  Same fields as in-app Feedback: email address, the title and description you write, your IP address, and your browser's user agent.

• Google Analytics

  This site uses Google Analytics (Google tag, gtag.js) to understand overall traffic — pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. See Google's own privacy policy for how Google handles that data.

Sharing, retention, and your options

Data described above is never sold. It's used only for the purposes stated — running the download gate and beta offer, processing Pro purchases, responding to feedback, and basic site analytics. Payment details are handled directly by PayPal and Apple Pay under their own privacy policies; maxfolders.com only receives a transaction reference, not your payment method.

To ask what's stored against your email address, or to have it deleted, email c.christod@outlook.com directly — as a one-person project there's no separate privacy team, but every request goes to the person who can actually act on it.

This policy describes what the current version of the site and app actually do, and will be updated if that changes.
