maXfolders

maXfolders Lite · Mac App Store · free, always

One pane. All the file management.

maXfolders Lite is the free edition for people who want one clean folder view instead of Finder's overlapping windows. No trial, no purchase, no account: install it from the Mac App Store and keep it.

What's in it

Everything for working in one folder

  • Folder tabs, a path bar you can type, and bookmarks
  • Copy… and Move… to any folder you choose, with a Preflight check before anything moves
  • The Shelf: collect files from several folders, then send them all to the folder you are in
  • Bulk Rename and Bulk Convert, always with a dry run first
  • Find, Preview, Contact Sheets, Media Show, Version History and File Comparator
  • Apple Intelligence, on your Mac, on a Mac that supports it

What it leaves out

The second pane, and the servers

Lite shows one pane and works on local folders only. There is no Source and Destination pair, no Flip, Swap or Compare Folders, no Clean Folder, and no connections to FTP or other servers. Those arrive with maXfolders, which also includes Pro.

Lite is sandboxed and updates through the Mac App Store, like any other Store app.
